You’ve seen Green Roof, you’ve seen Electric Drive Transportation, you’ve seen solar panels, and you’ve seen wind energy already.
However 1000 Green Steps was wondering if you’ve heard about SOLAR-POWERED CELL PHONE? This is the latest innovation released by Samsung Mobile starting from June 2009 at India, Europe, Southeast Asia, Southwest Asia, and Latin America. This dual band phone has its own solar panel at the back just like at the picture.
It has many usual features such as FM Radio, MP3 Player and Games. What makes it special is that this Samsung Crest E1107 Solar-Powered Cellphone contains some unusual features such as a powerful torch light, mobile tracker (sends out an SOS in an emergency, and notifies you when the SIM card is changed), and a fake call feature so you can quickly get away from people you don’t like.

- The Eco House
After having an ecotourism, purchasing eco-friendly gadgets by buying cell phone with eco-brands, this option sound a lot more interesting for you. 1000 green Steps had handpicked some beautiful design and came up with this stunning house. The Eco House is located in Spain, which has a roof line which sits wing-like above the building line. The roof form and distance from the building is key, it holds the solar panels at the correct angle to maximize effectiveness whilst also hiding them from view. A rainwater reclamation system will be installed and a photovoltaic system will supply the electricity to run a radiant heating system within the floor. Sounds like luxury, doesn’t it? It absolutely does to 1000 Green Steps.

1000 Green Steps are going to tell you today’s new green step to reduce your own carbon footprint. No, 1000 Green Steps are not going to tell you about some BIG STEPS on the journey, but SMALL STEPS that everyone can do anytime and anywhere.
You can start your green steps simply by trying to avoid an air round-journey. Because do you know that one air round-trip between San Francisco and New York creates about the same amount of carbon emissions as the average American home’s electricity use for four and one-half months? That’s a pretty significant reduction. Take your green steps now, folks!

If you cannot stand the crowd pushing each other bodies (literally) inside the busses or subways, you might like 1000 Green Step’s cheap solutions for you. First, walk and only visit places within the reach of walking distance. If that is also not possible to be done, you can try our option number two which is buying an eco-friendly car, and make use of it as a car pool for your region.
If you don’t feel like buying anything expensive, you should try buying a bike. Bicycles are not only good for our environment, but also good to manage the ‘exercise’ schedule to keep up your body health. So why not buy an infestation?

Ride an electric bike or scooter, you will never need to buy gas again. Meantime you are saving the environment.
Electric-assist bikes have two types: pedelecs, which you have to pedal to activate the electric assist, and e-bike, which does not require pedaling.
How powerful the motor is determines how much pedaling you have to do. The more powerful, the less pedaling.
There are many makes and models with very different quality when it comes to e-bikes.
When shopping for an electric-assist bike, go for quality, that is, performance, reliability and workmanship. Choose a manufacturer who is standing behind its products and has good track record . It may cost more initially, but will be worth it.
You can also convert your regular bike into an electric one by using a “do-it-yourself” kit. Make sure you get a high quality kit too, which will last you for a long time.

The French Constitutional Council has rejected a tax on carbon emissions strongly backed by President Nicolas Sarkozy that was to take effect Friday. But his ruling conservative party said the measure would be redrafted so it could be passed into law next year.

Foods from your garden or local farmers market are the freshest, tastiest and most nutritious. But the access to those foods only last for a few weeks or months every year.
The key to extend summer’s bounty of local fresh foods throughout the year is food preservation. While there are several ways to preserve, drying is an outstanding method to maintain the flavor and nutrients.
Although an electric food dehydrator works fine, it does use electricity, makes constant noises and occupies countertop space. A solar food dryer, on the other hand, is quiet and uses free energy from the sun.
If you get two days of sunshine in a row, a solar dryer will work for you. It dries large batches of food in one or two days. It conserves energy and saves you money.
Dried foods are compact and easy to store. They are great to eat straight or to cook with.
You can build an efficient solar dryer easily. The book “The Solar Food Dryer” by Eben Fodor provides information on many designs and building plans for solar dehydrators. Or read his article here.
Bottled water industry has a huge impact on the environment.
It uses 1.5 million gallons of oil to just make the plastic bottles every year, not counting fuels used to transport them. The burning of oil emits pollutants into the environment and attributes to global warming.
Water at areas near bottling plants is over extracted, which affects nearby residents and farmers. Also it wastes 2 gallons of water to purify 1 gallon of bottled water.
Ninety percent of the plastic bottles are not recycled and end up in the landfill.
You will save both the environment and money if you drink tap water instead of bottled water. The U.S. EPA’s standards for tap water are actually more stringent then the U.S. FDA standards for bottled water.
If you are concerned or don’t like the taste of tap water, consider a filter pitcher or a faucet filter.
While traveling, fill a reusable bottle with tap water and refill it on the way.

PepsiCo announced yesterday that it has calculated the carbon footprint of a 64-ounce container of Tropicana Pure Premium Orange Juice as part of their green steps.
According to a company press release, the entire product lifecycle of each 64-ounce carton of orange juice contributes an estimated 3.75 pounds of CO2 into the atmosphere.
By comparison, a car that gets 20 mpg emits about 1.0 pound of CO2 for each mile driven.

A group of scientists (nonprofit Union of Concerned Scientists, or UCS) published a travel transportation guide after the researchers calculated the amount of carbon dioxide associated with traveling in different vehicles.
The travel tips in the report would help both budget- and eco-concious travelers to save money and reduce carbon footprint.
1. Take the Bus. Bus travel can be so much cheaper than flying and it cuts down a couple’s carbon dioxide emission to nearly half compared to car travel and even more compared to flying.
2. Fly Coach. When opting for flying, a first-class passenger is responsible for twice the emission than a coach passenger because first-class seating takes up more space than coach seating.
3. Opt for Train. When you travel alone, train is a more eco-friendly option than driving and flying. Also, train stations are usually closer to city centers than airports so you do not need to rent a car or take a cab into town.
4. Carpool. More passengers in a car means less pollution per person traveling.
So next time you plan a vacation, try these tips to save money and help the environment.
