Now that Green Day has started their green days, we too are supposed to start our green steps already. Green Day and Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDY) teamed up a few years ago and collaborate in a campaign which was aimed to raise money for the environmental group (please see on the video). What is so interesting?

1000 Green Steps has been showing green idols along with their good deeds way too much, now it is the time for us to see how awful an eco-mistake would look on them who used to be doing their green steps.
Celebrities in particular are criticized for struggling to reconcile their well-meaning efforts to develop green credentials and the demands of the modern world. Sienna Miller admitted she “can’t avoid flying” as she toured the world promoting climate change awareness. What’s green and flying? Well, now you know what is gonna suit the answer best!

1000 Green Steps nominee for ‘Green’ Idol this time is our junior hero, Hayden Panettiere. When Panettiere turned 18 a few months ago, she eschewed all-night partying for a day spent getting registered to vote for DeclareYourself.com, a nonprofit campaign encouraging newly legals to exercise their political power as her green steps. Then on TV tabloid shows this past October, we caught Panettiere’s tearful breakdown in Japan’s waters after a failed dolphin-saving mission. She’s definitely earned some green cred, and we can’t wait to see this hero’s next green steps.

Green news to you guys! For this year’s show, American Idol had decided to take their green steps through their behind-the-show utilities. This year’s American Idol finale show was powered by green power, including wind and solar energy from LADWP and biodiesel powered production generators. The American Idol 2008 finale was also powered by green power.
American Idol makes extensive use of LED lights on its set. LED lights consume less energy, run cooler and last longer than traditional lights. Plus, over 1/3 of the lighting instruments on American Idol are LED, more than any other series on television today.
For the 2009 American Idol finale party they were placing an emphasis on sustainability. Most of the lighting used during the party was LED lights, which consume significantly less energy than traditional lighting. They are re-using items from the American Idol Top 13 party, including turning the step and repeat banner into pillows. In addition, the party caterers were serving locally grown and organic food.

Well well well… Look who’s taking the steps here. It’s not like 1000 Green Steps come out of the blue to be a judge for them, but let’s face it people, KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell nominated Christina Aguilera as their spokesperson to hungers since July 16th? I don’t know but (I thought) just as anyone else, all I can picture now is food dumps of battery hens and genetically modified chalupas. So starting from now on Christina willl be involved in the advertising aspects of their upcoming push to end international hunger. Any ideas, anyone?

- Bradd Pitt and George Clooney
Notice any familiar faces? Yes, this is THIS Clooney, the two-time Sexiest Man Alive recipient from People magazine. 1000 Green Steps understand that you night complain about his bad flighting habit. However, he is trying to improve his green steps by teaming with Matt Damon and Brad Pitt in ONE Campaign to fight AIDS and extreme poverty on a global scale. He has also supported Rock for Darfur, a series of concerts put on by MySpace in which money raised went to Oxfam’s Sudan Crisis Relief and Rehabilitation Fund.
Wondering who else has taken their green steps in through showbiz? Check out 1000 Green Steps Celebrity Report.

- Green Idol: Alanis Morissette
Just like other idols who have taken green steps in their life, Alanis Morissette also has started her own green steps since 2003. Back then she was narrating the program presenting growing evidence of climate change called Global Warming: The Signs and the Science. The following year she signed up for another film, The Great Warming, which she narrated with Keanu Reeves.
In 2003, this solar powered house owner was awarded The EMA Missions in Music Award for acts such as speaking out against drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and encouraging fans to learn about and become more involved in political issues.
As well as urging fans to educate themselves on the Bush administration’s Energy Plan, Morissette posts information on her website about her own aid donations through CHF International and invites fans to contribute.

- Queen of Green: Cameron Diaz
I’m sure you have seen Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Leonardo DiCaprio, and even Lisa Simpson in 1000 Green Steps. However, today 1000 Green Steps is going to discuss about Cameron Diaz, who might not being exposed too much about her green steps.
Diaz started her green steps when she joined Gore to announce the initiative Save Our Selves (SOS) – The Campaign for a Climate in Crisis, kicking off with a 24-hour summer concert series known as Live Earth, taking place July 7th, 2007 across seven continents. Then, in a feature on ABC News, Diaz spoke about the need for people to invest in green living and not just hop on board because it happens to be popular right now. The one-time vegetarian has even been quoted as saying she’d like to try out simple country existence for a year, living off the land by growing her own food and milking cows, saying she thrives on being outdoors. As a member of the Environmental Media Association, she has filmed public service announcements, with fellow greenie Gwyneth Paltrow, about the importance of conserving energy. The group’s Gen E (Generation Environment) program brings Hollywood and environmental concerns together, just like Diaz has in her own life.

- Just Like Our Green Idol: Brad Pitt
After having Leonardo DiCaprio, Angelina Jolie, and Lisa Simpson now we are having Brad Pitt as our Green Idol. Brad was twice nominated as ‘The Hottest Man Alive’ by People magazine. However, like many people say it’s the inside that counts. He proved to the world that he also has been hot on the trail of the emerging green-building movement, narrating a sustainable design TV series, and supporting Ed Norton’s Solar Neighbors Program.
He also has been leading an eco cause called Global Green USA’s Holy Cross Project, which is made to push the sustainable redevelopment of New Orleans after the Katrina.
That project will provide affordable-housing project, which will include five single-family homes, an 18-unit apartment building and a community centre. “What happened two years ago was a man-made disaster,” says Brad, “and this building offers a man-made solution.”
1000 Green Steps believe that with more people going green through their green steps, we will be able to create a better living place on Earth

- Eco-friendly Lisa Simpson
After having Leonardo DiCaprio and Angelina Jolie, you might think that 1000 Green Steps was joking by putting Lisa Simpson as our Green Idol for this edition. And so that you know, we’re not.
You guys have already heard about The Simpsons Movie, right? In that movie that eight-year-old Lisa warned Springfield community about the harm of toxic pollution. That heart-touching moment implicitly showed us that Lisa had influenced her generation to get educated and informed about the danger of damaged ecology. And not just that, she had already inspired many young generations to wear their hearts to solve global issues.
1000 Green Steps can’t tolerate if an eight-year-old girl can do that but you couldn’t.
