Step 73: Green Steps in Green House

The Eco House
The Eco House

After having an ecotourism, purchasing eco-friendly gadgets by buying cell phone with eco-brands, this option sound a lot more interesting for you. 1000 green Steps had handpicked some beautiful design and came up with this stunning house. The Eco House is located in Spain, which has a roof line which sits wing-like above the building line. The roof form and distance from the building is key, it holds the solar panels at the correct angle to maximize effectiveness whilst also hiding them from view. A rainwater reclamation system will be installed and a photovoltaic system will supply the electricity to run a radiant heating system within the floor. Sounds like luxury, doesn’t it? It absolutely does to 1000 Green Steps.

Step 111: Reduce Your Carbon Footprint The Way 1000 Green Steps Did!

1000 Green Steps are going to tell you today’s new green step to reduce your own carbon footprint. No, 1000 Green Steps are not going to tell you about some BIG STEPS on the journey, but SMALL STEPS that everyone can do anytime and anywhere.

You can start your green steps simply by trying to avoid an air round-journey. Because do you know that one air round-trip between San Francisco and New York creates about the same amount of carbon emissions as the average American home’s electricity use for four and one-half months? That’s a pretty significant reduction. Take your green steps now, folks!

Step 107: Green Steps in Environmentaland

This is a new destination option for those who consider travelling and having fun as an eco action. The world’s first eco theme park, Environmentaland, has opened its doors in Hollywood. The park is run by Global Inheritance, an activist group with nearly two dozen eco-programs to their name (and a really nice looking website to boot).

According to their site, “Global Inheritence is an organization working to reinvent activism for today’s young generations. Our initiatives focus on the power of creativity to comunicate and push for progressive social change while rejecting conflict.”

Well, let’s just keep our eyes open for how green (or not green) they are, of course with an expectation of it being the most suitable place for us to introduce our kids to green steps.

After having Solar Powered Cell Phone by Samsung, this week’s cool gadget comes from Motorola through The Motorola MOTO W233 Renew as their green steps. If Samsung makes their green steps by producing a solar powered cell phone, Motorola was able to beat them all out by producing a cell phone that is made from recycled plastic, 100% recyclable materials, comes with eco-friendly packaging, RoHS compliant, and comes with a postage-paid envelope so whenever you’re done with them you don’t have to worry about how are you going to recycle its 100% recyclable materials. You know what? YOU CAN SEND THEM BACK TO THE FACTORY TO BE RECYCLED! This is what you call a 100% green cell phone (it’s literally green, though).

This amazing gadget is available online at Amazon starting from $9.99

Step 109: Green Steps in Computer Efficiency

1000 Green Steps found a fact that each year, computers in the business sector waste $1 billion worth of unnecessary electricity.
Turn off your computer-and the power strip it’s plugged into-when you leave work.
During the day, setting your computer to automatically go to sleep during short breaks can cut energy use by 70 percent.
Invest in energy-saving computers, monitors, and printers and make sure that old equipment is properly recycled. Look for a recycler that has pledged not to export hazardous e-waste and to follow other safety guidelines.
Old computers that still work, and are less than five years old, can be donated to organizations that will refurbish them and find them new homes. (You may even get a tax deduction.)

Step 47: Electric Drive Transportation in USA!

Congratulation USA! Maybe some of you have already heard the green achievement of your country. This time 1000 Green Steps don’t hear city or county but really COUNTRY! America converts their vehicles into electric drive transportations.

U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) already loan $1.6 million for Nissan to modify its Smyrna, Tennessee plant to build battery electric vehicles as well as the batteries to power them. The loan came from DOE’s Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing Loan Program (ATVMLP), a $25 billion program authorized by Congress in 2007. Nissan has to be able to produce about 150,000 electric vehicles a year and 200,000 battery packs. Those vehicles will be ready at 2012!

Not just that, that same DOE ATVMLP loan had approved 8 other companies to do the conversion of USA vehicles into electric drive transportations. Those companies mentioned above are Tesla Motors, Maryland Science Center, Altcar, Maya Electric, Electrovaya, Exxon Mobil, IBM’s Big Green Innovations and IBM Almaden Institute.

Congratulation and Happy Green Driving!
